Appleyards Building Surveying was commissioned by Southern Housing Group for the design and contract administration of their Decent Homes Programme in the South East. The Decent Homes Standard is a government set standard to bring all homes up to a satisfactory standard by the end of 2010. The area covered includes Eastern Kent, including Ramsgate, Dover, Deal, Ashford, Tenterden and Canterbury. Initial inspections of the 230 properties were carried out in 2008/09 taking note of key elements such as windows, kitchen and bathroom replacement and boiler and insulation upgrades.

Appleyards were requested to deliver the programme of Decent Homes Works on the basis of providing  price certainty within a relatively short time frame. We undertook initial and detailed surveys to quantify the extent of the required works which allowed us to tender works on a lump sum basis and a schedule of rates.
