Appleyards was employed by Defra to deliver a benefits realisation plan as part of their project management and design services for properties in England and Wales.
We worked on ensuring the sustainability targets on our award winning EPC A+ rated office in Alnwick were actually achieved.
The following features and benefits have been delivered:
- Significant improvements in occupancy (from 450 to approaching 1000).
- Effective use of facilities and communication of benefits to stakeholders to ensure high performance of estate.
- Extensive planning and communication strategies.
- Smart working/Non-territorial working philosophy.
- Establishment of contractor framework and use of NEC3 contract software to improve time efficiencies.
- Minimised impact on existing occupants through successful project phasing.
- Each project awarded BREEAM Excellent.
- Regional and national Sustainability Awards granted.
- Use of "value release" mechanisms.
- Zero Carbon project in Alnwick, cited in the Government’s SDC’s SDiG report response this year.
- Appleyards team invited to sit on panel to define the new BREEAM Outstanding rating.
- Significant operational cost reductions; Alnwick project delivering reductions from £1200 per annum to £120 per annum per occupant.
- Use of Benefits Realisation plans, to measure successes against original project objectives and capture lessons learned.
